Ask, and you shall receive.

This might be the biggest lesson of 2011, the mantra that needs to stay with me most. Because rarely does it hurt to ask. And who knows who might just say yes.
A few months ago, I noticed a new page on Facebook. My friend Nicole liked it first, and then a few more Brooklyn friends joined in. I took a look and gave a like – while the page didn’t have much information, promoting the heck out of great Brooklyn creators seemed to be the focus. Along the way to it going from an idea to a site, I discovered a few friends are involved with the project. [Aside: the it's-a-small-world moments in Brooklyn make me so very happy.]

Then on Monday of this week, the official website With Love, From Brooklyn launched. I clicked over. I swooned. I tweeted. “Limited-edition Curated Gift Selections by Brooklyn Artisans.” Sometimes that word [artisans] makes me cringe from its overuse. But it fits in this situation. The products sold are hand-crafted. They are lovingly made. And having sampled a few of the brands available, they are delicious! [There are also some gorgeous illustrated items and other non-edibles in the "Pop-up shop."]

Oh and you know how I mentioned that I discovered a few friends are involved? It makes it all so much better. Because if a box is curated by Nicole or Nichelle or Meg, well then I am positive that it’s full of win. And after my one tweet asking about a giveaway, one little message to the universe, the universe and the brainchild behind WLFB said yes!

So I bring to you the With Love, From Brooklyn Salt of the Earth collection. I’m so very excited to give this away to one reader. Not only have I been itching to give something away to my lovely readers, not only am I giving away something that has a great story to it, but it’s delicious stuff! A few treats to eat and a few to play with in the kitchen. It feels wonderful to pair with a local business who wants to spread the Brooklyn love. Because frankly, Brooklyn is my home and my love for it is sort of insane.

So what are you waiting for? Here’s how to win:

When I was little, my mom and aunt used to make white chocolate dipped pretzels for baby showers and they would color the chocolate pastel pink or blue. That’s my favorite salty-sweet treat: nostalgia.
The grapefruit and smoked salt marmalade sounds the most intriguing, but I’d happily devour anything with chocolate and salt!!
